For large-scale grid‑connected photovoltaic power systems, to minimize the number of interconnecting cables between PV modules and inverters, simplify maintenance, and enhance reliability, it is generally necessary to install a DC combiner box between the modules and the inverter. By using a PV combiner box, users can connect a specified number of identically rated PV modules in series—based on the inverter’s allowable DC input voltage range—to form a string, and then link multiple strings to the array combiner box for current summation. The combined output is routed through surge protectors and circuit breakers before being fed into the downstream inverter, thereby facilitating seamless integration with the inverter.
